Vancouver has long been a favored destination for filmmakers, and with its diverse architecture, scenic landscapes, and favorable production climate, it continues to attract major projects. Recently, Netflix has leveraged the city's iconic settings for numerous hit series, cementing Vancouver as a filming hub in North America.

Among the popular shows that have graced Vancouver's streets are "Virgin River," "Firefly Lane," and "To All the Boys I've Loved Before." These productions utilized familiar Vancouver locales, seamlessly transforming them into fictional settings. For instance, the Vancouver Art Gallery was a backdrop for "Always Be My Maybe," standing in for a San Francisco venue during pivotal scenes.

The city's ability to double as numerous global locations makes it an ideal spot for a variety of genres. Yaletown, for example, was used to film scenes for Netflix's upcoming thriller "The Mother," featuring Jennifer Lopez. Set against the modern high-rises and urban greenery of Emery Barnes Park, the film showcases the versatility of Vancouver's urban spaces.

Netflix's production map, "Netflix in Your Neighbourhood," allows fans and locals alike to explore the filming locations used across Vancouver. The platform highlights spots like the Granville Street Bridge, which is used in action sequences for various shows. It also includes tourist-friendly areas like Gastown, which often appears in both small- and large-scale productions.

Local residents are thrilled to see their city shine on screen. "It's surreal to walk past a set and then see it on Netflix months later," said local photographer Emma Lee, who often captures behind-the-scenes moments as crews transform city blocks for filming. "It gives Vancouverites a sense of pride, knowing our city is part of these global projects."

As the demand for high-quality content continues to grow, Vancouver's role in the entertainment industry seems poised to expand. With a steady stream of TV shows, including several anticipated Netflix originals, production in the city is projected to remain strong, further enhancing its reputation as Hollywood North.
